Reducing pollution and improving our health

What Can I Do to Reduce the Impact of My Travel?

Most journeys in the UK taken by car are less than 5 miles (and may even be only 1-2 miles). By walking, cycling or using an electric bike for these journeys, you will save money on fuel, improve your health from exercise and improve the health of your community by producing less air pollution.

For longer journeys, use pubic transport where possible or consider car-sharing for your work commute.

Electric cars have a significantly lower lifetime carbon footprint than petrol and diesel cars, even with manufacturing emissions taken into account, so where possible, make the switch to an electric car (more are available on the second hand market every year too!).

Energy Saving Trust

This independent organisation has lots of ideas on reducing the environmental impact of your travel (and may save you money too!)
